Our big news!

We're Pregnant!
Ok, so to most of you, this isn't news. I have a hard time keeping big secrets, and while I try to be cautious, I just can't hold it in.

I found out on December 27th. I honestly don't remember why I bought a pregnancy test because I really didn't think I was pregnant. So it was a totally casual thing; Danny was in the shower at the time. I saw those two pink lines appear and just stood there in the bathroom staring at it with my mouth hanging open. I didn't know how to tell Danny, so I just stuck the stick into the shower and waited for him to notice. It wasn't long until he poked his head around the shower curtain, his eyes wide open, and saw me grinning. I just stood there and laughed, really not believing what I was seeing. Danny made me stay in the bathroom until he was done showering so that I wouldn't go tell my sister, who was there at the time. It was hot and humid, but somehow, I didn't mind.

This pregnancy has been not only a shock, but a big worry on my mind lately. Having been just diagnosed with Diabetes, there are a whole string of problems that can come up. So I have been on pins and needles, waiting to find out if everything is ok. I've held myself back from feeling too excited about the baby, worrying that it might not work out. But I finally saw the doctor yesterday. Because of the increased risk, he ordered an early ultrasound. Usually, he doesn't do one until 20 weeks, but I went in last night. Danny met me at the clinic and together we saw our little bean-shaped guy on the monitor. It was absolutely surreal! The baby is down where it needs to be, has a perfect heartbeat, and is officially 8 weeks 4 days old! That puts my due date at August 29th. Looks like a long summer ahead!

So I have put off creating a blog, even though it has been on my to do list for some time. I guess now that we have some news, and things to keep people updated on, I decided to start. I promise pictures to follow, as well. Especially when the little tater-pants arrives!

On an unrelated side note, we have mice in the house. They actually wake me up with their nasty scratching and I am so grossed out! But we have traps down, and hopefully I will see some dead ones today. Fun, I know.

You better get rid of those mice because I will not have them nibbling on Porter. That's my job!

Alyssa! I can't comment on your other entries! How long have you had diabetes?! My goodness...ya never know what's gonna happen, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing that quote about what that old man told you. I liked it. How's the pregnancy going? And Danny? Are you guys planning on moving northward at all?? Update me!
